Art Gallery of South Australia

The Art Gallery of South Australia’s extensive collection of Australian, European, North American and Asian historical and contemporary art, as well as temporary exhibitions, are a valuable and unique learning resource for teachers and students.

A specialist teacher from the Department for Education and Child Development is based in the Art Gallery to produce and deliver curriculum-linked learning programs. They are designed to connect to the Australian Curriculum, SACE and the Early Years Learning Framework through a range of learning areas including the visual arts. Programs promote:

  • visual literacy
  • higher order thinking and communication skills
  • exploring history and cultures
  • stimulating student creativity through responding and making activities.

Facilitated sessions are available for classes, or teachers can facilitate their own class visit using resources available on this web site.
